Have you considered a Winter Wedding?

One of your first decisions when planning a wedding is what time of year to hold it. Your instant reaction may be to consider a Summer wedding, when you imagine beautiful sunshine and warm weather…but we all know that the UK weather is, dare we say, wildly unpredictable!
In choosing a Winter Wedding, you have accepted from the outset that the weather may be far from perfect, which is one less thing to stress about. The beauty of Layer Marney Tower is that as well as beautiful gardens for your romantic wedding photography, there are also plenty of options for stunning photos to be taken in the warm and dry.
The entrance to the Long Gallery, which houses the bar, has a grand staircase that is perfect for group shots and the inevitable “confetti” shot. Or why not consider a few quirky photos in the Medieval Barn, set amongst the bales of straw and goats.
Whether you are in the Corsellis Room, Layer Marney Parish Church or Long Gallery, you can be sure that your wedding guests will be warm, as our biomass boiler effectively heats the whole of the venue. In addition, the magnificent Jacobean fireplace will have a roaring log fire, which creates a special ambience.
Inside the Long Gallery, couples can either embrace the Christmas festive foliage décor or opt for a winter wonderland theme, think white flowers, green foliage, natural twigs and an abundance of twinkling fairy lights. A magical atmosphere can be created with lighting for that warm and cosy glow. Rich, jewel colours of deep reds or burgundies, forest greens or navy create a vivid colour palette accented with metallic silver or gold. The choice is entirely yours.
The menu you select for your wedding breakfast will certainly reflect the seasonal weather; wedding guests would welcome a feast of slow roasted shoulder of lamb or maybe belly of pork with caramelized onion… And how about a warming glass of mulled wine or cider, or possibly a winter Pimms, to warm you after a few photos outside?
A Winter Wedding could see your budget stretch further as venue prices tend to be less expensive between December and March. As it is a less popular time of year to be married, there will be more flexibility with the availability of dates and your favoured suppliers are less likely to be booked than for a Saturday in the Summer. Additional funds for a far-flung honeymoon destination?
