Wedding guest accommodation
Most wedding couples will be lucky enough to be joined by family and friends travelling from far and wide to attend their special wedding day, so an important logistic to consider once you’ve settled on Layer Marney Tower as your Essex wedding venue, is where to suggest to your wedding guests that they stay on the wedding night.
Although Layer Marney Tower offers a glamping site within easy walking distance of the reception rooms, many guests depart the wedding venue at the end of the evening for local accommodation, such as hotels and AirBnB’s.
If the idea of glamping does appeal to your guests, all bookings are made directly with Featherdown Farm. This is less than a ten minute walk from the venue but please be warned, at the end of the reception it will be very dark and therefore a torch will be required!
We are very fortunate to have established a relationship with two local hotels, both within a 20 minute journey, that offer a preferential room rate to our wedding guests.
The first is The George Hotel, a historic Grade II listed building in the heart of Colchester that has a charming combination of period features with modern designer touches.
Situated on the High Street, this hotel has a stylish bar, lounge and restaurant and 49 heritage en-suite rooms with comfortable beds and flat screen TV’s.
Under the same group of hotels, is the St Nicholas (located just across the road from The George Hotel) and the Dragonfly, which is located to the North of Colchester at the intersection of the A12 and A120.
In order to benefit from the special room rate, your guests will need to enter the Promo code LAYERMARNEY when booking directly with the hotel. This code will apply to all three hotels mentioned but will not work on third party sites, such as booking.com The discount is 20% off the best available rate.
Another hotel that we have an agreement with is The Marks Tey Hotel, which is currently undergoing a refurbishment ready for a rebranding in the Spring or Summer of 2024. Amongst the ongoing improvements, the capacity will increase by 21 rooms and there will be a new edition of family rooms with two double beds.
The entry of a unique venue code directly on the Marks Tey Hotel website will give Layer Marney Tower wedding guests an exclusive 15% discount off all room types at the time of booking. There are two potential codes to enter, either LMTOWERA (for Room Only) or LMTOWERB (for Bed & Breakfast).
